Via Dolorosa entrance gate AntipoloNext week will be Holy Week again, the week before Easter. This is a special week in the Philippines and other Roman Catholic countries. In all parishes, all over the country a procession will be held along all stations of the way of the cross. There usually are 14 (sometimes 15) stations where the Passion of Christ is shown.

In Antipolo City is a nice permanent exposition of this way of the cross named Via Dolorosa. A few weeks ago Flor and I went there with some friends, more for just having a walk and some exercise than to pray, and we took a few pictures.last supper Via Dolorosa Antipolo There is no admission fee, although it is appreciated to donate something for maintenance of the place.

All images of Jesus and his Apostles and other characters are man size, nicely sculptured and painted. Aside from that it is a beautifull garden on the slopes of a hill with some nice views of Manila and surroundings.crucifixion of Christ Via Dolorosa Antipolo Many trees, plants and birds can be seen there.

Be aware of the fact that if you like to visit the place during Holy Week, it might be crowded. There is very little parking area at the spot, so you better leave your car in the city and just go by tricycle. All tricycle drivers know the place and are happy to bring you there.entrance Sepulchre Via Dolorosa Antipolo Sepulchre Via Dolorosa Antipolo  At the entrance gate (at the right hand) is a Rosary made of stones and rope. If you do not like to do the stations of the Cross, you might decide to pray the rosary in stead.

That this Holy week means something to the Philippines is also shown by the way several Filipinos celebrate. Last Year 30 people were nailed on a cross in the city of CUTUD.
