It is a fact that Filipino men used to urinate everywhere. Along the street, in their own garden, everywhere. Some of the local governments are realizing it and try to do something about it.
On several spots in the Metro Manila you can see these pink colored places for men to urinate. The urinals mostly used by taxi drivers and jeepney drivers. The only problem often is, that the authorities forgot to connect them to the sewer system so all urine is flowing freely on the street. The area around those urinals smells terribly. That’s probably why a lot of Filipinos are not using them and just urinate on other places ……
So if you spot a place like this and do not like to smell the urine, take a wide turn around it

The Philippine president was visiting the US some time ago. While having a tour through the city in the US presidents car, the US president said: “Do you see how clean our streets are?”
The Philippine president answered: “Yes, they are very clean. It’s only shamefull that there is a man peeing in the street.”
The US president said: “If you look very well, you can see that it is a Filipino !!!”

Looks like it just pours it over your feet. I’ll stick with my neighbors Hybiscus bush.
Tom,
If one is wearing shoes it might even go IN them.
I remember seeing those in France in the early 1980′s. I hear they had them all over Europe at the time. And yes, they also smelled really bad . There was even one located right outside of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Last time I was there they were all replaced with automated, self-cleaning toilets. More hygenic, but you can’t people-watch while you go like in the old ones!
Hi Mike,
Nice of you to visit my website again.
Yes they could be foubd all over Europe. Even now there are some in Amsterdam in the Red-light district. But they are properly connected to the sewer system. They are also cleaned daily.
Thanks for the picture from Paris.
