Although the title of this blog could mean something else to my readers (maybe they are looking for a hotel or other place to spent the night) this time I’m showing you a number of pictures of sleeping Philippino people on weird places. As you can see they are able to sleep on all kind of places even with a lot of noise around them. Maybe they are just napping, but they do it everywhere.
Here on the central market at Marikina City.

At a lot of tricycle stands, where they wait for passengers you can often see one or more sleeping in their vehicle.

I have also seen them sleeping in a (wild) driving jeepney in the noise of the running engine of that jeep and many others in the streets.
Sometimes you’l find them on the most funny places, like this old man sitting on a motorbike.

One more time on the market of Marikina, in broad daylight.

One time we were driving through Quezon City and stucked in a traffic jam. On a certain moment we saw on the other lane a tricycle, fully loaded with goods and the passenger on the backseat sleeping. After 15 minutes and making about 100 meters progress, the passenger has not moved yet….still asleep.

In Antipolo City in the center of town on a very busy street corner I got this picture of this sleeping man, probably fell asleep while waiting for a new transport.

And on Recto avenue I found this eggplant seller just sleeping near his goods, I wonder if his cart would be empty at the end of the day ![]()

Nice catches you`ve got here Jan.
I guess that the eggplant seller won`t sell all of his goods, but he certainly will be bright awake hehe.
I do appreciate all of your work Jan on your website and your blog.
See you in October my friend.
Regards,
Adrie

Hi Adrie,
yes, it took some time to have enough pictures to make a blog about it. Filipino people are able to sleep on any moment of the day and everywhere. Even today, whwn I was watching a popular tv show: WoWoWee. It is a very noisy show but yet there was a girl in the audience (around 10 years old) just sleeping on her seat. The host even tried to wake her by touching her but she didn?t move.

You would probably find that most are quite light sleepers and would wake up quickly like the man on the trike if actually approached.
The ones sleeping in the market stall might also live there. It is very interesting to see how people adapt to their environment. If it was taken in mid afternoon then it might just be nap time.

Hello,
Thanks for stopping by on my website.
I can imagine that you miss your country. I like it a lot and do not intend to go home to my own.
If you have a website of your own: link to my site please, and tell all your Filipino friends about my site, so they can get homesick too?

on a positive note, filipinos can sleep (esp the last pictures) with their goods out open because they are too trusting with the people around them.
nice observation!
